I started watching the next video, and immediately felt heartsick. I miss being in different places. Isn't the light beautiful? Let's go there:

Music for your Midweek: La iaia - "Sota l'arbe" and "Jo vull ser la meva iaia"
There is something I need to admit. One of my main motivations to move to Spain one day, is so that I can be immersed in Catalan music, and see La iaia in person. I've liked them for a while, and am anxious for them to put out new music. Until then, here is a little live song for you. I think this Nowhere channel is modeled after the Take Away shows. Enjoy:

Music for your Midweek: The Unicorns (!) - 2014
It's 2014...
AND THE UNICORNS ARE HAVING A REUNION TOUR!!!
It's in the works. You can read about it here.
I loved the Unicorns. In the summer of 2004, I went on a school trip to Europe. We did a lot of driving and riding on trains. I had a few albums on heavy rotation at the time The Shin's "Chutes Too Narrow", Blur's "Modern Life is Rubbish" (This was my souvenir from Florence. Weird? I know), the Garden State soundtrack, and The Unicorns' "Who will cut our hair when we're gone?". We would trade around CDS to listen to on our DISCMANS. That's how I found the Unicorns album. When I got home, Jessie Capener and I bought tickets to Ben Kweller at Bricks, and guess who was opening....?
I wore a red, white, and blue puffy vest that I bought in Italy and it was so hot.
The Unicorns wore little kids ghost Halloween costumes.
Ben Kweller wore a denim jacket, I think.
The Unicorns covered 50 cent.
Ben Kweller covered Vanilla Ice.
It was glorious, and all was right with the world.

February Mix: Hot. Cool. Yours.
This is one of the most honest Valentines Day mixes you're gonna get. Love is sad and great and awful and mundane and thrilling. At least that's what they tell me. I tried to capture all those sentiments in these song choices. All covers too, so that's fun. 14 songs for your February 14th. Here's to LOVE:
1. Wrecking Ball (Miley Cyrus Cover) - Sondre Lerche
2. Doo Wop (That Thing) (Lauryn Hill Cover) - Quantic Y Anita Tijoux
3. Hold On, We're Going Home (Drake cover) - Arctic Monkeys
4. Lovefool (Cardigans Cover) - RAC
5. Love Is Blindness (U2 cover) - Jack White
6. Say You'll Be There (Spice Girls Cover) - MØ
7. With or Without you (U2 Cover) - Twin Shadow
8. The Lovers (Rod McKuen Cover) - Arctic Monkeys
9. Video Games (Lana Del Rey Cover) - Bombay Bicycle Club
10. Chances (Strokes Cover) - NOBODY
11. Climax (Usher) - Mt. Wolf
12. Are You That Somebody? (Aaliyah Cover) - The Gossip
13. Love Vigilantes (New Order cover) - Iron and Wine
14. Love (John Lennon Cover) - Beck
NOTES:
1. This is what being wrecked by love is. A perfect cover.
2. A little bit of Spanish and a little bit of Portuguese in this cover. Rekindling my love of Lauryn Hill. She is the queen.
3. From BBC's Radio 1 Live Lounge. You MUST watch the video and check out Alex Turner's sweet dad-dance moves.
6. Still reminiscing about the excellent 27th birthday party some dear friends threw for me. It was Spice Girl themed. Need I say more?
7. U2 makes another appearance. Bono and the Edge may seem like dorks, but they do have some lovely songs.
8. I finally found this song after three years. It breaks my heart.
12. YEEEESSSS
14. I read part of a biography of The Beatles. And John Lennon you guys. Not a nice guy. So full of himself and proud. But when I listen to his songs... I just don't care. They are perfection.
P.S. Do you like these soundcloud embeded thingies? I thought they were a nice touch.

Music for your Midweek: Gretchen Devine and Julia Mecham (!)
Hey guys! Yesterday was my birthday so I was busy lying around and sippin' soda to do much of anything. Here's your song for the week, and it's ME singing! And Julia playing guitar! It's a little Molly Drake cover. Julia just whipped out a guitar version, and I think it turned out really lovely.
2014 is gonna be my year. I'm going to take a lot of selfies and brag about myself and be more vain in general. It's a resolution. I'm not even kidding. Hope you don't mind too much.

Happy Birthday to Me!
Great things have happened on the day I was born:
Monet painted this beautiful landscape
A hydrogen bomb was lost somewhere off the coast of Georgia.
Astronauts landed on the moon.
Also, No Doubt formed the same year I was born.
In other important news, Christiano Ronaldo were born on the same day, and Darren Criss and I were born on the same day AND same year! Well well well.
