You all everybody!

Where to start. All my ideas, are so disjointed, but I'm sure I can force them all to come together. So, item numero uno.

If you are ever in need of a happy thought, just listen to this song:

The actual song starts at about 1:40 into the video. My favorite version of this song is the bit that I heard on "The World" on NPR. I highly recommend you listen to the mp3 version of the interview, if only to hear that clip. It's probably easy to be cynical about lyrics, but have you heard anyone sing with such passion? It's kind of endearing seeing yuppie looking Scottish soccer dads singing about the power of love.

And here's another happy thought if you are still cynical. Since I'm sure you are all experiencing LOST withdrawals like I am, you can listen to the song with your eyes closed and picture Desmond as the lead singer (since he has that Scottish brogue), Charlie as the bassist (Driveshaft experience), Hurley on guitar, Sayid on drums (he is good at hitting things), and Sawyer on the keyboard (to keep his ego in check). Jack is in charge of the "lighting," of course :) Did you catch that? I am clever.

Now that LOST is over, I can officially turn off th TV for the rest of my life. Except for when Glee is on. Or Masterpiece Theater. Or a re-run of Gilmore Girls. Shoot.

I want to get "lost" in real-life and do this

That's it.

See? All the loose threads of thought do tie up nicely in the end.

P.S. Oh, and when you listen to the "the World" interview, stay to the end so you can hear them do "Letter From America". lovelovelove

Let the dense archive begin!

Starting this blog has been a long time coming. I still feel like I am lagging behind when it comes to understanding technology (reading posts from twitter gives me a headache, I have a love/hate relationship with iPhones) since coming home from my mission. But now is the time! I will probably need your help so I don't seem totally incompetent. One small step for everyone else, one giant leap for Gretchen!

What has really kept me out of the blogging world for so long is lack of a catchy blog title. I took a trip down to Jacob Lake last weekend, which meant a long car ride with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on tape. Listening to over 15 hours of HP can get anyone into a creative mood. I took two concepts from Harry Potter and incorporated them into my title. Can you guess what they are?

Wow.

You can't get much nerdier than that.
I should have started a blog a long time ago.

Anyway,
I hope that you, dear reader, will accompany me as I venture into the blogosphere for the season. This is my first summer home since highschool, and I haven't decided how I feel about it yet; but I am sure there is a lot in store for me.

Oh, I'm just quivering with excitement!
